Our Founders
I am Dr. Jodi Taylor, an Occupational Therapist. I have been working in the field since 1980 and in 2005, completed my Doctorate in Clinical Pediatric Occupational Therapy at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. After years of experience in a variety of clinical settings, I had the opportunity to become a School-Based Therapist and to incorporate the exciting specialty of Sensory Integration into my work with children in their educational environment.

About 15 years ago, I met Karen Kistler, a teacher in one of the schools in which I provide services. As advocates of lifelong learning we found a mutual respect in our desire to learn and share information. We began to see the value in Professional Development from a variety of fields that shared in the work of helping children navigate the developmental journey. Together we enjoyed years of collaboration and the joy of seeing youngsters respond so well to the methods we were developing that combined education with the experiences necessary to the brain and body, in order to create the best foundations for adaptative behavior in the home, school and community.

Occupational Therapy work is so developmentally appropriate that it is good for all kids and babies as well, not just those needing intervention. The Schlinic was created with this in mind. I enjoy working with the children and to see them happily engaged in activities that provide just right challenges. I continually seek out information and best-practice research, while continuing to learn from the children and their feedback. I willingly share this with parents who are navigating the rewarding but demanding journey of parenthood.

My husband Bruce and I live in Buena . We are the parents of Chelsea, Lily, Luke and Jason who bring love, spirit and pride to our family. I thank them for helping me make The Schlinic a reality.

I am Karen Kistler, a NJ Certified Teacher in Early Childhood and Special Education . I am a graduate of the University of Delaware and have been teaching for 30 years. In June 2008, I retired from The Buena Regional School District. I am grateful to the children who fueled my desire to keep learning not only in the field of education but other fields that were working to contribute to the complex nature of child growth and development.

About 15 years ago I had the opportunity to see Jodi Taylor connect with my students and share her unique gifts and refined repertoire of skills with them. Recognizing the research junkie in each other we began a collaboration that led us to a desire to create a new methodology for our work with children that integrated the amazing research coming from many fields including Education, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Medicine, Neuroanatomy , Nutrition and Child Development.

The Schlinic began with innocent comments that usually started with “I wish I could” and ended with some desire about reaching more children, working with them long before school and daycare, having more equipment with the space to use it and having the time to share what we have learned with those on the front line-Parents and Teachers.

I have the honor of being Mom to Shaun, Shannon and Son-in-Law Joshua. I live in Sweetwater with my husband Leon who has always shared with me a belief in family and the sanctity of childhood.
